PGN

PGN is a code that records the moves in a chess game. In cases where you’re not playing on Chess.com, you can paste the PGN here for analysis. However, the analysis from a PGN won’t be as detailed as using the game link — it won’t highlight book, good or great moves, only brilliant, blunder, mistakes and missed opportunities. Still, you can always explore further by reviewing the game directly on Chess.com.

Before pasting the PGN, make sure it’s correct. The best way is to copy it directly from the button provided by online chess platforms to avoid errors. If there’s an issue, you can check the PGN by uploading it on Chess.com for verification.

A quick note: PGN files consist of two parts—the first part contains game information, and the second part records the moves. These two sections must be separated by a line break for the PGN to be valid. In some cases, when copying PGN from mobile devices, these parts are joined by just a space instead of a line break, which results in an invalid PGN error. To fix this, please ensure you press ‘Enter’ to add a line break between the two sections. Additionally, in some instances, characters like ‘\’ or ‘\”‘ may also cause errors. The easiest solution is to delete the first part and only send the moves.

The 120 seconds is just the maximum time for one analysis. The result may come faster or slower depending on how many moves your game has. Please wait for the green line to appear or a red error message.
